South Country Slide-In Celebrates it's 26th Anniversary in 2009!

The South Country Slide-In
is an annual reining horse event celebrating its 26th Anniversary in 2009 at the Cardston Agridome.  The Town of Cardston and the Cardston Agricultural Society are proud to offer this prestigious event to the many spectators and participants who travel to the Slide-In each year.  Special awards and events are planned for this year's 26th Anniversary Celebration, including a Beef BBQ & Corn Roast with the famous Taber corn just ripe and ready to savour!  Also newly added is the Team Tournament Competition, open to all riders who show in any division held on August 21st or 22nd.  This competition is free of charge and teams will be determined by the show committee in random order as entries are received.

Our Show Committee has put together a major event which will run August 21-23, 2009 and is expected to draw spectators and exhibitors from all western Canadian provinces and the northern US.

There are 16 divisions offered to suit each level of competition, ranging from Open competition, Non Pro and Rookie Division.  The show is National Reining Horse Association approved.  Added purse money for this years' Slide-In is  $11,750.

In 2008 the Slide-In posted 265 entries, the largest division being the Limited Non Pro Division with 43 entries.  Payouts to contestants exceeded $25,500 and total cash and prizes topped $30,000. The premier event, the $6000 Added 3 year Old Open Reining Futurity hosted 16 entries riding for the total purse of over $8500.

Our judges for this year's event are Tyson Randle, Centennial, Colorado and Renee Pipinich, Helena, Montana.
